It takes a lot of people to create a good community theater. Nearly every task at Stage West Community Playhouse is performed by a volunteer. The most visible volunteers are, of course, the actors on stage. Many actors enjoy their first stage experience at Stage West. (See Auditions).
Their work is obvious, but there is another entire ‘cast’ working backstage before and during every production, collectively known as “the crew.” Each shows crew consists of set builders, costumers, props, lighting, and sound people. Plus, we have volunteers that help manage other areas of theater activity, such as the lobby and box office.
In addition to all of the previous areas listed which deal with Stage West productions, there is always a need for hard-working, dedicated individuals to serve on the Playhouse’s committees. Every non-profit organization needs individuals who possess skills in management, finance, marketing, development, strategic planning and public relations – and who want to support the organization’s goals. In our case that goal is to provide educational and cultural opportunities that enrich our community through our productions and other theater-related programs.
We think we have some of the best volunteers in the region. The opportunities for involvement in Stage West Community Playhouse are almost endless. It may take a little time to find your niche, but if you are interested there is a spot here for you.
There are two ways to volunteer at Stage West. You may either call the Box Office during the regularly scheduled hours and leave contact information, or you may attend one of our membership meetings. Membership meetings are held on the 2nd Wednesday of every month at the theater. The doors open around 7:00 pm and the meeting starts at 7:30 pm.
We hope to see you soon!
